Swakopmund Youth with a Vision, (SYV) is a group of young people that is drawing on their capabilities, skills and knowledge as a unit with the objective to bring about a change to the society they come from.
Their vision is to be the driving force of youth aiming to better them-selves and to discover their full potential. SYV's mission is to be an independent youth led plat-form, representing and encouraging active youth leadership by participating in society.
Swakopmund Youth with a Vision's first campaign is a Back to School drive in DRC on Saturday, 4 February, which is a fun filled day, with the aim of promoting education and competitiveness amongst the youth in DRC. We are calling on the Coastal Business Community to assist us with sponsorship for this event and it is a programme filled with motivational speeches, children's games that lead to a prize ceremony and entertainment by local artists.
Warm a Heart Projects is a coordinator linking re-sources to those that need it. In 2011 WaH assisted the orphanages and did a survey in DRC to establish what skills the residents, mostly single mothers had to enable us to find training partners and job placements to improve the circumstances of these young women.
In 2012 WaH started the year with a Book drive to collect easy read English books for the DRC school library and would like to say a big thank you to Die Muschel and Art Africa Swakopmund for donating 100 books which will be handed over at the Back to School drive on the 4th of February. WaH also assisted with a request for stationary which Waltons Walvis Bay sponsored.
WaH and SYV's aim is to be the change we want to see.
