| An excellent field of 53 players entered the Venus Better Ball Stableford competition last Saturday and as in the past 23 years (or is it 32?) it was a feast of golf, free lunch, drinks and partying until late Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone - John and Jannie unfortunately couldn't join us this year, but luckily Mrs Roula Savva was there to ring the bell!. Winners on the day were Patrick Shigwele and Chris Tempo on 46 points. They played with last year's winners, Stanley Gawanab and Jonas Nilenge who also ended on 46 points but lost the count-out. Coincidently it was the same winning score as last year. In third place were a lot of teams on 43 points but Jerry Hartogh and Dotie Beukes took the count-out against Amandio Sardinha and Paul Sham with Frans and Justine Grobler fifth on the same score. Tomorrow it's Quin Builders' 3-Ball Alliance and a large field is expected despite the Gold Cup being played in Windhoek. Players are reminded that the dress code is strict on Saturdays and must be adhered to. Jerry also issued a final warning that from now on, all scores must be entered by the players themselves within 7 days to avoid a 'penalty round'. |
