A Kuisebmond based church leader, Pastor Peter Nganga dontated cash and several other items to the Kuisebmond Neigbourhood Watch on Tuesday. Pastor Nganga who is currently spreading the gospel in prisons, schools and hospitals, said that the donation is just a small token of appreciation towards the members of the Kuisebmond Neighbourhood watch for creating a safe environment for Kuisebmond residents.
The donation included torches which pastor said represent light.
“Criminals operate in the night and bad things are associated with darkness.
Therefore these torch lights symbolise light”.
The chairperson of the Kuisebmond Neighbourhood Watch, Lucky Shipanga, re-ceived the award on behalf of the neigh-bourhood watch.
The Kuisebmond Neigbourhood Watch was established in 2009 with the main aim to reduce crime in Kuisebmond. They have since been successfully operational since their establishment.
The neighbourhood watch alongside the Namibian police managed to successfully reduce crime in Kuisebmond and were responsible for several arrests last year.
These men and women of which many are unemployed patrol the streets of Kuisebmond and survive on donations from the Walvis Bay community. |
