| Otis Finck : Namibian gymnasts Kimberly Ann van Zyl and Robert Honiball created history on Friday by winning Namibia's first-ever gold me-dals in the Artistic Gymnastics category of the African Gymnastics Championships held in Walvis Bay at the Indoor Sport Complex. Van Zyl (pictured busy with her gold winning routine) became the first gymnast to win gold for Namibia in the beam final with a score of 11,500 points. South African Chanel Parsons followed in second place with a score of 11,450. Algeria's Salmi Khadidja came third with 10,800 points. Honiball (right on picture) won a gold medal in the Senior Men's Rings final with a score of 13,700 points. Mohamed Srour of Egypt (centre on picture) and Wajdi Bouallegue (left on picture) of Tunisia shared second place on 13,600 points. Namibia's Morihei Anderson won a bronze medal in the rings final with a score of 11,40 points in the junior Male Artistic Gymnastics category. He finished behind Tarek Shalaby of Egypt (1st) with 13,15 points and Tiaan Grobler of South Africa (2nd) on 12,15 points. |
