A Nampol traffic official was allegedly assaulted on Sunday afternoon under the Narraville Bridge by two Walvis Bay residents, the Namib Times has learned. The traffic official called for assistance and the two were arrested shortly after the incident.
A source yesterday told the Namib Times that the two suspects allegedly disobeyed a red robot in town and drove away in the Naraville direction.
The official followed them and they eventually stopped under the bridge. The two were apparently under the influence of alcohol. The source says that the two suspects allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and started punching the traffic officer.
The official requested assistance and several Nampol members rushed to the scene and arrested the two suspects.
The names of the suspects are known to the Namib Times but cannot be released as they have not yet appeared in court.
Also in a another incident a safety officer of a Walvis Bay based company was allegedly assaulted after he threatened one of the workers on Friday afternoon.
A source on Friday told the Namib Times that the safety officer allegedly threatened the worker that he would make sure that the worker would be one of the employees that would be retrenched.
An iron bar was allegedly used by the employee to assault the safety officer. By late yesterday afternoon the case was not yet reported to the Police. |
