Car owners beware

Recently in Swakopmund my mother opened the front door and security gate for my father, awaiting his return from work for lunch. She left the security gate locked but with the keys in the lock.

Photo: Warning Recently in Swakopmund my mother opened the front door and security gate for my father, awaiting his return from work for lunch. She left the security gate locked but with the keys in the lock. My husband was also home at the time and they both heard the security gate slide open and heard the key turn, but we were both expecting my father returning from work. In the meantime, my father was dropped off close to the house and when he walked into the yard a man left the yard and greeted him. My car was parked outside in the yard. As I have put it up for sale with a “for sale” sign on, he was under the impression that it was someone who came to see my husband about the car and thought nothing more of it. Only once inside the house he asked my mother who the man was and what he wanted. She replied that she did not know anybody was in the yard. My husband at this stage was working on the computer in our bedroom. Shortly after, they realised that the front door keys, along with other house keys, were missing. My husband and father wanted to take the car to go and confront this person when they realised that the car keys and several other keys were missing from the key holder. They took the spare set of keys and went looking for this man. After a short while they found him in Diamond Street where they confronted him and asked for the keys. He immediately started running before they could even get out of the car. They chased after him while he was running towards Turaline Street. They caught up with him with the car and he stopped running. They searched his pockets and found only one set of keys, but when my father went back the way that he came he found another key. The man started running again and disappeared. I will deliver these keys to your office in Swakop. If anybody, especially people living in Flamingo, Agaat, Diamond and Turmaline (the part in old Vineta side) Street finds car keys (it has a small wire star on it) and the set of house keys, could they please return them to the namib times office in Swakopmund. It seems that this person takes keys from homes in the hope to use them later. The other set of keys that he threw away has a blue plastic label that says “sy hek” and it has a large black remote with buttons that has a “P”, “A” + and one button with “a” – on it. My husband was also home at the time and they both heard the security gate slide open and heard the key turn, but we were both expecting my father returning from work.…
