2016 FNB Sages tournament ends at Rossmund

The FNB Annual Interbranch SAGES Tournament ended at Rossmund GC on Friday evening, 4 November with a gala dinner and prizegiving.

Brian Kandanga, Area Sales and Service Manager for FNB Namibia welcomed the atmosphere and camaraderie amongst the players and confirmed that FNB would continue their support of this prestigious event on the Senior Golf Calendar. The bank has been a proud supporter of this event for numerous years and has given an amount of N$ 40 000.00.
A record field of over 90 players took part during the week.In the team competition, the local Kestrel’s – consisting of Tony Boesch; Athol McLean; Mark Jacobs and Achmet Abrahams – were already ahead after day two – coming out winners with a total of 440pts. In second place was the Coastal Seniors Team on 425pts followed by Coral Cobras from Windhoek GC on 413pts.
Overall individual winners were “A” Div: Tim Botha 148pts (RGC); “B” Div: George Gariseb 143pts (WGC); “C” Div: Navin Morar 127pts (WGC).
Outgoing President of SAGES Namibia, Arthur Samuelson (WGC) thanked all stakeholders and then handed over the duties to the newly elected President Johan Arangies of Tsumeb GC, who went on to thank the sponsors FNB Namibia; Dolphin Pharmacy; E Hardbuild Centre; LR Parts and Plantech Engineering. He added that he looked forward to his two years in office and called on the SAGES of Namibia to stand together and to continue to promote golf in Namibia.
SAGES Namibia contributes annually towards the Namibia Cancer Association and this year the Coastal Branch Committee opted once again for a“Pink Wheelbarrow Challenge” – a total of N$9 000 was collected and the winner of this years’ wheelbarrow was Johan Arangies.
