Accident on main road caused by U-Turn

A careless U-Turn in the main road of Swakopmund was the alleged reason for a VW Amarok Bakkie smashing into a Jeep Wrangler.

The accident occurred on Wednesday just after 14:00 in Sam Nujoma Avenue across from Cymot. According to an eyewitness on the scene, he saw both vehicles driving in an easternly direction. The Jeep Wrangler with a South African registration was driving in the left lane, when the driver suddenly made a U-Turn and as such, allegedly turned in front of the VW Amarok, which smashed into its side. Only minor injuries were reported.
Only a few moments before another accident was reported close to Patrysberg on the B2 highway.
According to the West Coast Safety Initiative one truck rear-ended a second truck, which left the scene, allegedly because the driver didn’t notice the accident. The second truck was stopped later in Swakopmund. Both occupants of the first truck sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital for further assessment and care.
