The driver of a Toyota Hilux lost his life after he lost control over his vehicle on the way from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay on Saturday night. The out of control car slammed head-on into an oncoming Range-Rover. A third car (Run-X), also traveling from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay slammed into the wreckage pieces of the two cars, which forced the car off the road where it came to a still stand in the sand.
It is alleged that the accident happened at around 23:45 on Saturday night. Mr A Vernasius was traveling alone in his white Toyota Hilux with registration number N27332WB when the accident happened. The white Range-Rover with registration N777-768W, was driven by Mr Kurt Düval, who sustained serious injuries. The Range-Rover carried another three passengers, who sus-tained serious to moderate injuries. They were identified as Vainda van der Merwe, Schalk van der Merwe and Kate Düval. They were all admitted at Welwitchia Hospital. All passengers who was inside the Run-X only sustained slight injuries when the wreckage pieces laying on the road, forced the Run-X into the sand next to the road. These passengers were identified as Evelin Keis, Martina Ddaitwa and Odela Tsaraes.
In another incident on Saturday at the T-junction of Dunes Mall at around 11:10, The rider of a white Yamaha motorcycle, belonging to Debonairs, Mr Johannes Elia Utah (30), sustained serious injuries when he crashed into a Range-Rover that was driven by Sabrina Selina Hawes (20). Miss Hawes was left unscratched. Mr Utah was transported to Windoek from Welwitchia Pri-vate Hospital because of the seriousness of his injuries.
