Basketball Old School Reunion

Walvis Bay Whales Basketball Old school reunion in conjunction with Erongo Basketball Association hosted the first ever annual Old School Basketball on Saturday 24th November 2018 in Swakopmund at the Vineta sports grounds.

The tournament was open to players aged 35 and over saw 10 teams from all over the country participated in the Round Robbin event. The final game played with between Swakopmund Hornets and The Choppers from Windhoek saw the later take the gold trophy home. The event was well-attended with many old players present to support the tournament. The organisers look forward to a bigger and better event next year.
Martin “Deadmeat” Festus a player with the Whales expressed his excitement at an opportunity to compete again. “This is really exciting for us. We have not played in a long time. We love the game and would like to see more happen here in Swakop-mund.
Some of the players lamented the state of the basketball courts in the region citing the dis-advantages these run-down courts have on the game of Basketball.
