Blue Waters 1 coastal T20 champs
Blue Waters Cricket Club (BWCC) 1 defeated Sparta 2 with 9 wickets in the final of the First Division T20 Coastal Cricket League at the Sparta Recreational Sports Club on Sunday 24 January 2021.
Sparta 2 won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 96 runs for the loss of 8 wickets off their 20 overs with Herman van Zyl their top batsman with 33 runs with Raynard van Zyl their best bowler as he bowled Zhivago Groenewald.
Samson Chivi and Zhivago Groenewald did the work for BWCC 1 with a 94-run partnership, before Herman van Zyl dismissed Groenewald for 43runs. Justis ‘Dallas’ Hangula scored the last 3 runs to reach 97/1 for the newly crowned champions.
Blue Waters 1 and Sparta 2 ended third and forth respectively on the log with JCCA and Outjo first and second respectively. Blue Waters 1 advance to the final after defeating Outjo Cricket Club with 33 runs in their semi-final clash played last Saturday 23 January at the Walvis Bay Cricket Oval.
Blue Waters batted first and scored a massive 154 runs in their 20 overs. Outjo were all out for 122 runs.
The two opening batsmen of Blue Water 1 Zhivago Groenewald (77) and Captain Matthew de Gouveia (45) set up a partnership score of 122 runs in the semi-final against Outjo with bowlers Samson Chivi, John Erick and John Calaca took two wickets each.
The other semi-final Sparta 2 defeat three time champion the Junior Coastal Cricket Club (JCCA) with 9 runs.
Sparta 2 batted first and set up a score of 126 runs with Reynard van Zyl their top batsman with 41 runs. Herman Karsten was the best bowlers with 3 wickets, Helmut Mack and Jurie Engelbrecht two wickets each and Reynard van Zyl and Martinus Erasmus one wickets each.
JCCA were all out after 116 runs with Jaco Le Roux their top batsman with 33 runs with Marco Malan the top bowler with 2 wickets.
