Blue Waters 1 Cricket club is the 2021 Coastal 40 Overs cricket champions after they beat the defending champions JCCA by six wickets in the final of the coastal league at the Walvis Bay Oval last Sunday.

JCCA bat first and set up a target of 162 runs for 9 wickets. Blue Water scored 166 run is 30.4 over to be crowned as the champions.  In the semi-finals that were played last Saturday Blue Waters beat Outjo by 172 runs and JCCA beat Sparta 2 by 199 runs.
Blue Waters captain Matthew de Gouveia said “I am very proud and am happy as we won this league and the 2021 coastal T20 and 40 over leagues. This is quite an accomplishment of his team.”
“The final was both interesting and tough as both teams brought their best to the field. We managed to hit the runs quite comfortably; we lost our head a bit in the middle, but did well at the end” De Gouveia said.
JCCA captain Nian Grobler said that losing the league had brought the team back to earth as we’ve won the 40 over league for the past four year and the T20 league for the past three years.
Grobler added that the lost in both 40 over and T20 leagues will gives us space to work on ourselves and to come back stronger.”
“Both teams prepared very well. This was quite evident on the pitch. Things did not go the way we wanted and we allowed them to score runs more freely” Grobler said.
