The table is set for a must-win derby tomorrow as the Mighty Blue Waters from Kuisebmond takes on neighbours Western Spurs from Narraville in the round of 16 in the MTC NFA Cup AWEH at 14:00 at the Jan Wilken Stadium in Walvis Bay.

Blue Waters F.C. is one of the oldest football clubs in Namibia and playing in the country’s highest league. The Namibia Premier League will go into tomorrow’s derby against Western Spurs with two things in mind, showing they are the best at the coast and keeping their name in tact as the derby kings.
Blue Waters advanced to the round of 16 after beating the other harbour town giant Eleven Arrows FC 2-0 in the round of 32 in the MTC NFA Cup AWEH at the Sam Nujoma stadium in Windhoek.
Western Spurs from Narraville made history in qualifying for the round of 32 when they beat Kangweru Black Tops 4-3 in penalties to advance to the round of 16.
It will be the first time that these two coastal football teams will play against each other.
Chairperson of Western Spurs Football Club Tyrone J Mouton said the team is ready to compete against neighbour, the premier league outfit Blue Waters FC.
“We had a good run out over the past weekend, with a lot of positives we took from both games. Due to unforeseen injuries, not all our players will be available this weekend but we can assure Spurs will have enough in our arsenal to deploy against our opponent as our sole focus this past week was on the cup tie which lies ahead tomorrow”, Mouton said, adding, “this is Football, so whichever team progresses to the next round will have deserved to be there and will have the support of the entire Erongo region to further progress into the competition, and that is something on its own to be proud of. Whatever the result on Saturday, Western Spurs Football Club will keep moving forwards with the community firmly behind the team. We urge the community for their continuous support to carry us through.”
According to Mouton the whole team will enjoy every step of this historic journey both for players, club officials and supporters.

Mouton explained that to date this is the furthest that the club has progressed in an NFA Cup Round and the team is ready to give their all and showcase the young talent on this platform. As the only established football
club in Narraville, it is only league status separating Western Spurs from Blue Waters and with the talent that Spurs possess they are ready to compete at any top level.
“The football lovers of this town and its community are in for a treat as they will witness some of our home-grown and experienced talent in action with the likes of Diego Fransman, Akio Van Wyk, Alexander Melani, Luciano Fischer and Petrus “Gombai” Nanghama just to mention a few”, Moutons said.
“Western Spurs FC first and foremost wants to thank and acknowledge our partners ARYSTEQ Asset Management a boutique asset management firm for the 2021 season, we are proud to have them onboard, OTB Sport and MR24/7 Emergency Medical care as well as the community of Walvis Bay in particularly Narraville we do appreciates all your commitment and support towards Western Spurs Football Club” said Mouton.
Let us get the numbers to the stadium and support our boys but I urge all supporters to please adhere to the Covid-19 protocol for their own safety
Blue Waters Sports Club coach Paulus Shipanga said with most of his players available, the team is ready as it can be under the circumstances.
Shipanga said “With contact sport being stopped most players couldn’t train. My Boys started eating and some are little overweight and some lost their football appetite and opted for other ways of making money.”
“Am not thinking about losing, but for now my focus is on Western Spurs and the big derby on Saturday. We take it one game at a time” Shipanga said.
My team is made up of mostly younger guys who need all the help and support we can give them, but these youngsters are also fearless and ready to play. So, come Saturday we will play to win.
