Body of newborn discovered in waste skip in Swakopmund

On Sunday, 13 November between 14:00 and 16:00 a man discovered the body of a fully developed newborn baby in a waste skip behind the cemetery in Tiras Street, Tulinawa location in Mondesa.

Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Erongo region who confirmed the incident. It is alleged the man discovered the body of a newborn baby while he was busy searching for empty bottles in the garbage skip.
Chief Inspector Iikuyu further said that it is suspected that the baby have been born the morning of the same day (Sunday).
A case of concealment of birth was opened, the case number is CR18/11/16. The suspect is unknown to Nampol and the investigations continues. Anyone with information of a possible suspect is urged to contact the nearest police station.
