Brandberg / Uis Fun Fly- In 2017

This year’s Brandberg – Uis Fly-In will be the 3rd Fly-In at the Uis Airstrip. The following has been planned so far, but there might be changes due to unforeseen circumstances.

4 May 2017 – Arrival at Uis
5 and 6 May 2017 – Competition
5 May 2017 – Braai in the Evening at Uis Airfield
6 May 2017 – Braai and Prize-Giving at Uis Airfield
7 May 2017 – Departure
The participants expected are pilots from Swakopmund, Windhoek and even as far as Cape Town.
At present there are 22 aircraft expected at the competition. The competition entails pilots to navigate their aircraft around a course worked out by the organizers. The pilots will then have 30 minutes to decipher the task, while working out the route and time for their specific aircraft, taking into consideration wind factors etc, to complete the task.
Pilots must also do precision landings in front of the judges to obtain maximum points for this discipline. Every few centimetres out of the designated spot, counts against the pilot.
Pilots need to have a very good knowledge of their aircraft and the way it performs in different weather situations to be able to try and put them at the top of the leader board.
During the prize giving, the top performer, top airmanship and best radio procedures will each receive a trophy sponsored by LISAMA.

Official Flying will be held on Friday and Saturday and will start @ 09h00.
Breakfast will be served at your various accommodation establishments.
