Carnage as flight of flamingoes hits high voltage power line
A reader of namib times alerted the newspaper to this scene of carnage yesterday where a flight of flamingoes hit one of Nampower’s high voltage overhead power lines east of Walvis Bay. The birds are attracted to the area by large pools of semi purified effluent that formed near the power lines.
Some thirty carcasses were counted. The pattern in which the dead birds are scattered leaves little doubt that they were killed hitting the overhead power cables.
