Coastal aircraft makes emergency landing
Coastal air safari operator Pleasure Flights suffered another aviation setback on Saturday, when one of the company’s aircraft, a Cessan 210 Centurion with the call sign V5-JAG, made an emergency landing on open land next to the David Hosea Meroro double way in the vicinity of the Pioneerspark cemetery over the lunch hour on Saturday.
The pilot, Wesley Thomson, was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was underway to a guestfarm southwest of Windhoek when the aircraft had an engine malfunction shortly after take-off from Eros suburban airport. Thomson, who was injured and rushed to Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, has been hailed for his flying skill in this difficult and unforeseen circumstances.
Damage to the aircraft is classified as substantial. V5 JAG has previously been registered under the call sign V5-KUS and has substantial years of service in Namibia’s aviation industry.
