Concealment of birth

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested at Karibib for alleged concealment of birth.

Ndeshihafela Paulus gave birth in recent days, but she was never seen with the child.
Community members, including her boyfriend, became suspicious and notified the Police. A medical doctor also confirmed the pregnancy.
Paulus could also not give a satisfactory explanation and she was subsequently arrested.
She made a first appearance in the Karibib magistrate’s court on Monday. She was refused bail and will remain in custody until her next court appearance on 3 March this year.
