Crew member dies aboard Tunacor vessel
A crew member of the fishing vessel Tunga, owned and operated by Tunacor, died at sea on Monday.
At the time the 47-year-old fisherman fell ill, the vessel was 42 hours sailing time away from Walvis Bay. The master of the vessel decided to turn around and head for Walvis Bay. The crew man died some 24 hours from Walvis Bay.
The CEO of Tunacor, Peya Hitula said they are waiting for the forensic report on the cause of death and asks the community to respect the family and fellow crew. Hitula expressed his deepest sympathies to the family and said the crew will be provided with professional counselling.
