Delay of “second jab” safe – can be delayed for 6 weeks

Namibia is experiencing a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines and can result in many people not receiving their second vaccine.

However, a delay of up to six weeks from the date of your second jab is still safe, says the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula. The Minister said this on Wednesday during his televised address to Namibia over the worsening Covid-19 situation.
“According to guidance from the World Health Organisation a delayed administration of the second dose of vaccine will not adversely affect individuals. In fact, the administration of the second dose may be delayed for up to 6 weeks”, said Dr. Shangula.
