Demanding a solution

Business owners and tenants in Theo-Ben Gurirab Street in Walvis Bay’s light industrial area says enough is enough. The municipality of Walvis Bay in-stalled this plastic tank as a temporary measure to absorb overflowing sewer lines. A pump fills the tank with sewer water when the sewer lines overflow and a tanker truck removes the waste water at intervals. Some days, like on Friday the tanker truck never arrived and raw sewer water floods into the street, causing a messy and smelly situation. Business owners are now discussing the possibility of pooling money for a lawyer to take on the municipality as they feel not enough is done for the light industrial area. Areas like Theo-Ben Gurirab street does not even have proper street lighting.
