Domestic abuse leads to death

Beverly Kurangera (26) was stabbed several times by her ex-boyfriend Petrus Jacobus Du Plessis (51) around 21:00 on Saturday, 25 August at the Old Location in Karibib.
According to Erongo region’s crime investigations coordinator, Du Plessis allegedly broke into the victim’s shack and went inside. He started quarreling with her as he could not understand that their relationship had ended. He further assaulted her, Kurangera managed to run out of the shack and went to the neighbour’s shack, but Du Plessis followed her and stabbed her several times with a sharp spear on the back and in the neck. The victim died on the spot next to the neighbour’s yard, her next of kin was informed. Sources close to the victim revealed that she ended the relationship with her ex-boyfriend due to abuse.
The suspect fled the scene and was later arrested in Usakos on that same day and he is expected to appear in at the Karibib Magistrate Court today. Investigations continue.
