Eleven year old wins Nedbank for Autism Series

They say dynamite comes in small packages and that’s exactly what happened when the talented 11 year old Emile Vilbert (Junior) claiming all the spoils and won the 2021 Nedbank for Autism Series final with an impressive score of 37 points last Saturday 20 November at Omeya Golf Club.

Emile Vilbert an 11 year old learner at Walvis Bay Private High School (WBPHS) was the winner of the second Nedbank for Autism Series with a Coastal Swing held Saturday 28 August 2021 at the Rossmund Desert Golf Course with 39 points .
Dan Zwiebel from DZ Golf, the Nedbank for Autism Series Coordinator said that A total of 527 players participated in the 2021 Nedbank Autism Golf Series that consist of 10 events across our entire country to support the drive to create awareness for the Autism Association of Namibia.
Zwiebel said that the Nedbank Autism Golf Series raised an amount of N$228 200 in support of Autism that is not a myth, not a stigma, not a curse, not a puzzle, just a different way of being and thinking and viewing and to Create Understanding through Acceptance.
Petra Dillmann, founder of the Autism Association of Namibia, says that the continuation of support for the project will have a great impact as it increases the chances of sustainability towards supporting autistic persons, their parents, teachers and the community in learning about and retaining their awareness, understanding and knowledge about autism.
According to Dillmann, the organisation aims to support parents, their children with ASD, adults with ASD, as well as friends and professionals who are interested in promoting the well-being of persons with autism spectrum disorders within Namibia, and to provide a network between the various autism organisations worldwide.
“We are absolutely dedicated to provide support and assistance as well as training in the field of autism to parents and professionals. In the current economic climate and with the diverse needs of various members of the community, this is becoming increasingly difficult,” said Dillmann.
Dillmann said, ”We are particularly excited to host quality golf events at centres where avid golfing enthusiasts rarely get the opportunity to play in a professionally organized event virtually on their own doorstep. Undoubtedly, we will also have the opportunity to scouts for talent and thus contribute to the overall development of the sport country-wide”, said Dan Zwiebel, the Nedbank for Autism Series Coordinator.”
Zwiebel said that the series will be held again in 2022 with Nedbank again as the title sponsor and all the co-sponsors.
Zwiebel thanked s Nedbank Namibia and all the co-sponsors of the event that are M+Z Motors, AfricaOnline, Engen Namibia, ComputerKit Namibia, Khomas Medical Centre, Taeuber & Corssen, Gondwana Collection Namibia, Safintra Roofing Namibia, Imperial, as well as Future Media as the media partner.
The final results of the Nedbank for Autism Series final at Omeya Golf Club are;
Emile Vilbert Jr 37 points, Kevin Wentzel 33 points, Jolene van Schoor 32 points, Attie v/d Westhuizen 31 points, Meliki Shoozi 30 points, Jimmy Faber 29 points, JC van Niekerk 28 points, Antonius Amugongo 28 points and Bonnie Hoabeb 24 points.
