Entries open for Swakopmund Jazz Up Festival

The Swakopmund Municipality in collaboration with various sponsors invites all brass and big band musicians to become part of the first ever Swakopmund Jazz Up Festival, a workshop which will be held in Swakopmund from 12 to 20 November this year.

According to Anette Kötting the goal of the Swakopmund Jazz Up Festival is to encourage new relationships between musicians within Namibia to show off their talent by providing a quality experience hosted by the Jazz Up Festival event in Swakopmund. Kötting said: “We have to date already secured the attendance of two German masters, Stephan Schulze who is the leader of the Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Ulrich Peterman who will provide training for attendees at the Workshop”.
A week of music will be hosted in and around Swakopmund between 12-19, while the main event, which is the Big Bang Concert, will take place on the evening of 20 November this year.
Rehearsals for the Big Bang concert will be on weekends and additional training sessions will only be by appointment with the musicians them-selves.
This event is free of charge for participants and musicians from all over Namibia are welcomed to join the workshop and the concert.
