Erongo in the finals of The Namibian Newspaper Cup

Erongo made it to the final. At the time of going to press yesterday Erongo Region was yet to play Otjozondjupa in the finals of The Namibian Newspaper Cup in Swakopmund.

On Friday, Omusati thrashed the Hardap 2-1, while Zambezi scored a goal against 0 from Oshana. The Erongo Region made an excellent strike and won against the Kavango East 3-0. Omaheke and Kunene had a neck to neck of 1-1 each as well as Ohangwena and Karas. Khomas won 3-0 against Oshikoto. Oshana beat Omusati 5-3. Hardap beat Zambezi with a massive gab of 6-0 and Kunene and Kavango East drew 2-2.
On Saturday, Omaheke was beaten by Erongo 2-0. Otjozondjupa won 1-0 against Karas. Oshikoto won 2-0 against Kavango West. Omusati and Zambezi equalised the score of 2-2. Hardap won against Oshana 3-1, while Kavango East trailed 0-2 which was caused by Omaheke. Erongo also won a historical 8-0 against Kunene. Otjozondjupa beat Ohangwena 4-2, while Kavango West suffered 4-0 against Khomas.
During the semi-final on Sunday, Erongo and Hardap region drew 1-1 which ended 5-4 by means of penalties shots. Otjozondjupa won 4-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2. In the women football, Brave Gladiators won 7-0 against the U/17 Erongo Regional team. The Namibian and Nedbank Shadow team draw 1-1. 11 players was elected for the Erongo regional team and this only shows how well prepared they are. On Monday morning during the loser match Khomas and Hardap Region battled it out and Hardap won the game with one goal to nil.
