Erongo Sports Council established

The Erongo Sports Council (ESC) was established last Friday 14 May with the election of its members at the office of the Erongo regions council in Swakopmund.

The election of the ESC members was done at a meeting that was held with member from various Sport codes in the region. The members that were present were Nelson Meroro (Erongo Regional Council), Llewellyn Manale (Karate), Frank Slabbert (Athletics), Wallace Doëseb (Soccer), Antoinette Tsuses (Women’s Soccer), Belinda Oberholster (Atheltics), Creswill Scholtz (Athletics), Foxy Afrikaner (Netball), Ryan Matsi (Women’s Soccer), Valdemar Swart (Karate), Llewellyn Manale (Karate) and Lesley Goreseb in the presence of Chief Administrator at the Namibian Sports Commission, Mr Simataa Mwiya and Magic Nyambe also from the office of the Namibian Sports Commission .
Chief Administrator at the Namibian Sports Commission, Mr Simataa Mwiya said that the members have been tasked and mandated to become actively involved with all sporting codes in the region and spearhead the regions sports development for a three-year term.
Mwiya encouraged the new commissioners to draw inspiration from what the region has achieved so far in sports, despite the apparent challenges.
“Work hard and serve the region, leave fighting each other, you have a mandate on your shoulders” Mwiya said.
The ESC members that were elected are Chairperson – Mr Lesley Goreseb, Vice-Chairperson – Mr Wallace Doëseb, Secretary General – Mr Frank Slabbert, Treasurer – Ms Belinda Oberholster, Public Relations Officer – Mr Llewellyn Manale and Regional Council representative – Mr Nelson Meroro.
According to the Public Relations Officer Mr Llewellyn Manale they are looking forward to governance amongst all of our registered regional sports codes.
“We are here to see that the best is done for every single sport code, lets join hands and serve everyone with the best interests at heart” Manale said.
