Exciting end at Social Doubles League

The Namib Diesel Social Doubles League came to an exciting end with some of the scores really close and it was everything to play for in the final round.

The final outcome was as follows:-
In the Men’s A section the favorites Trevor and Brandon Grane managed to amass a good amount of points throughout the league, which carried them through and gave them the edge they needed in the end to lift the Trophy for 2018.
The runners-up were Leslie Bosman and Cecil Humphries and in third place were the sponsors Namib Diesel’s Jaco de Witt and Angelo Titus.
Chantel and Chelsea de Gouveia’s youth, fitness and great style of play put them a notch above the other teams and took the trophy for the Ladies Section with reasonable ease.
Diana Meyer and Lindsay Lottering were the runners-up and Christina Beukes and Paula Louw took third slot.
The Men’s B section was taken by a Shawn Mou-ton and Gunther van Wyk who are rarely seen at the club, but come out of the woodwork during doubles competitions and seem to gel well together.
Runners-up were Patrick Quinn and Willie van Duij-venbode and in third place were Joe Hermann and Lino Koopman.
In the Mixed Doubles Section Zeenad Martins and Lino Koopman just managed to take the title on points to fend off late entrants and runners-up Carla Cummings and Christopher Hill.
Christina and Ettienne Beukes managed a good third place.
It was a large entry, which had a superb atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed by all. It definitely has to be ranked as one of the top events of the year. Mr Jaco de Witt for the sponsor Namib Diesel was greatly impressed by the turnout and sportsmanship shown throughout the event, confirming that next year shall once again be sponsored by them.
It goes without saying that Buccaneers Squash Club thanks Namib Diesel for their ongoing support of squash and sponsorship of this popular annual event.
