Family lucky to escape B2 accident unscathed

A family of four miraculously escaped death and injuries on Saturday after their double cab pick-up truck was hit by another vehicle causing it to swerve off the road and overturn. The pick up landed up on its roof.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening approximately 30km from Swakopmund on the B2, when an oncoming vehicle reportedly swerved into the pick-up truck’s lane at a high speed and struck the rear wheel of vehicle. It caused the pick-up to swerve off the road and overturn.
The driver and family managed to crawl out of the vehicle unharmed. The other vehicle allegedly stopped several hundred meters away and the driver fled from the scene into the desert. By the time of going to press, it was unclear whether the driver had been identified and arrested, as it is a criminal offense to leave the scene of an accident without ascertaining whether there are any injuries or damage to property.
