FEI Jumping World Challenge
The Namibian Equestrian Federation held the first and second legs of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) Jumping World Challenge from 5 to 7 November 2021 at the Reiterverein Swakopmund.
A record number of Category A entries, had six athletes competing in the highest level this year with a further seven entries competed in Category B and ten in Category C.
The aim of the Jumping World Challenge is to give riders the opportunity to compete internationally without having to leave their own country, reason being the challenges and costly expenses of travelling a rider and his/her horse across the globe.
Twenty riders and horses entered from across Namibia, with only the top two from each geographical zone qualifying for the FEI Jumping World Challenge finals. The top two competitions out of the three competition “Legs” count towards this.
This competition is currently divided into 10 geographical zones and offers three height categories in one age group. Athletes may participatefrom the age of 14 in the following categories:
CATEGORY A 1.20m – 1.30m
CATEGORY B 1.10m – 1.20m
CATEGORY C 1.00m – 1.10m
The jumping courses are the same in all 10 zones, being designed by an appointed international course designer, and built in every country in the same sized arena of 65m x 45m. The technical aspects of the courses are in correlation with the Levels 1 & 2 of the FEI Coach Education System, which is implemented in the same National Federations that participate in the FEI Jumping World Challenge.
Judges, Christiane Hass and Matthias Braune were extremely impressed with the high standard of riding over the weekend and everyone is now looking forward to the 3rd and final leg that will be from 3 to 5 December 2021 in Swakopmund, and incorporates the qualification for the Youth Equestrian Games 2022, in Aachen, Germany.
