Fell through roof

A Walvis Bay man remains in the intensive care unit of the Welwitschia Private Hospital, after he fell through a roof structure at Namib Mills’ depot in the harbour town on Monday.

The man, who was identified as a certain Dewald Clarys, suffered serious injuries to his lower body and remains in a medically induced coma.
It was confirmed Clarys is employed by Steel Africa which is conducting roof construction work for Namib Mills on its premises.
Upon inquiries the managing director of Steel Africa, Chris Bruyns, confirmed the incident. Bruyns said the incident is now under investigation.
