First consignment of 20 000 tons of railway tracks arrive in Walvis Bay

Discharge operations commenced in the port of Walvis Bay on Wednesday night to discharge 6 600 tons of railway tracks from the cargo ship FWN Merchant. The tracks are to be used in the reconstruction of the railway line from Walvis Bay to Kranzberg east of Karibib.

This is the first delivery of three consignments of railway track that would total 20 000 tons. The second delivery is scheduled for November this year and the third in February 2020. Namibia Stevedoring Services is responsible for the offloading operations which would take several more days. On the picture: the cargo ship FWS Merchant that is alongside at berth number 8.
