Fish & Chips at the food truck by the seaside

Swakopmund is one of the places in Namibia where you can find almost anything you are looking for, be it good services, clothing materials or food. Swakopmunders now have the pleasure of a food truck, described by the owner as the “first ever food truck in Namibia”.
The food truck goes by the name of Fork ‘n Nice and sells ice cream, fish and chips, hotdogs, tuna and pork wraps etc.
“Our friend bought this truck from Omaruru to start selling food, but before he could start he got a nice job in Windhoek and that’s when we (my family) decided to take over and pursue the food business,” explained the owner Maggi Ackermann.
They started operating by the end of November and Maggi said it is the first time she is venturing into the food business and so far it is going well.
“We have people coming from far just for our fish and chips,” said Maggi.
The Fork ‘n Nice food truck started operating from Obeco, opposite the Mondesa Taxi rank. During holidays and the festive season, the food truck moves to the seaside, with the written permission of the muni-cipality.
Right now it is on Strand Street, on the north side of the Mole before you go to the old fish pond and skateboard half pipe. The truck is also surrounded by a kiddie’s park with jumping castles and slides.
According to Ackermann the “Pulled Pork” sandwich is the most trending product and then of course, the fish and chips.
