Five month old baby boy dies after being left home alone for 13 hours

A five months old baby died in Kuisebmond in Walvis Bay on Wednesday, after the 29year old mother left the child alone at home for thirteen hours. The mother now faces a charge of murder. The incident happened in David Hambunda Street.

The mother, who is employed by a security com-pany, left for work on 22 March at 05:00 and returned home at 18:00 and found the child died.
According to Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kas-huupulwa, police regional crime investigations co-ordinator for Erongo, the lady told Nampol that the baby was not feeling well by the time she left for work and she was supposed to come back home to take the baby to the clinic.
She never returned. “She left the house at 05:00 and return home at 18:00 only to discover that the baby had died.
A case of murder, alternative culpable homicide and negligence was opened and the lady is expected to appear in court today (Friday)” said Kashuupulwa.
