Four accidents over the weekend

Four accidents were reported in the Erongo Region over the weekend. Two of these incidents were quad bike accidents.

With regard to the quad bike accidents, one occurred near Swakopmund and the other near Langstrand. Windy conditions the past few days resulted in dune formations shifting and so called false dunes forming. Quad riders not familiar with the terrain are often at risk.
On Saturday morning, a tipper truck belong to China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) overturned on the C14 east of Walvis Bay. The truck was fully laden with rocks for harbour construction work. It is believed the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle where after it overturned. The driver only sustained minor injuries.
On the same day, on the B2 road near Vergenoeg, the driver of a pick-up lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle veered off the road and overturned. The driver escaped with minor injuries
