Fourth whale stranding
This Humpback whale stranded near Dolphin Beach in the early hours of Friday, leaving marine researchers puzzled as to the cause.
In the last few days a total of four Humpbacks stranded – one at Lüderitz, one near Henties Bay and in the past two weeks alone two strandings in the Walvis Bay area. The whale was still alive by Friday mid-morning, but sadly died later in the day. A large volume of small fish also washed ashore at Langstrand over the weekend, with many believing now that negative oceanic conditions might be at the root of the whale strandings and the scores of dead fish washing ashore.
