Gaub accidents

Two vehicle accidents occurred almost simultaneous on the bridge in the Gaub over the weekend.

Five young Dutch tourists had a lucky escape when their 4×4 drive d/cab pick-up (with trailer) struck the safety barrier on the low-water bridge in the Gaub Pass over the weekend. The pick-up veered of the bridge and overturned. Two rear-seated occupants sustained injuries and were initially attended to by a passing doctor. Both were transported to the Welwitschia Private Hospital in Walvis Bay by ambulance for further care. One of the injured tourists was admitted for observation.

As emergency personnel were still attending to the five tourists, another vehicle struck the bridge bridge’s safety pylons, but this time round the vehicle remained on the bridge with only its left rear wheel over the edge.
