Gendev FC “warns” Magic in Debmarine Namibia Cup
Gendev Football Club have set their sights on reaching the quarterfinals when they face Tura Magic in the Last 16 of the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday in one of the four matches at the venue.
Gendev FC are writing a remarkable history in Namibia football, having at the first time of asking, won the Erongo Preliminary Round of the Debmarine Namibia Cup earlier this year to reach the Last 32 and were lucky enough to get a bye into the Last 16 after the withdrawal of their opponent.
Gendev FC administrator Luzaan Rossouw says they are proud of the club’s achievement thus far and are preparing to cause an upset on Saturday when they take on cup favourites Tura Magic at 11h00 on Saturday.
“From the company CEO down all the employees, we are very proud of what the team has achieved in the shortest possible time. It has happened so fast and everyone is excited about it. Reaching the last 16 of such a major competition in the country is by no means easy and we have been very lucky so far and we intend to use that luck together with determination to carry us through the past. Magic is strong, but we don’t fear them”, Rossouw states.
Rossouw adds that the Walvis Bay-based club is funded by the Gendev Fishing Group and the all players are employees at the company.
“The players have risen above the demands of being workers and play the game they love as well. They have taken up the challenge so well and the sky is the limit for this young club”, says Rossouw.
Tura Magic and Gendev FC is the second game of Saturday at Walvis Bay as Touch & Go and Rundu Chiefs kickoff at 09h00.Try Again and Eleven Arrows will battle it out at 13h00 and at 15h00 UNAM FC and Mighty Gunners will go head to head at the Kuisebmond Stadium.
