Giant gingerbread house signals Christmas season is upon us
For the past few weeks visitors at Café Anton in Swakopmund can once again witness a giant gingerbread house standing inside.
The house, which is decorated with a variety of sweets and Christmas biscuits, forms part of an age-old tradition. For more than 25 years the bakers of the café spend hours making it, which is then displayed. As usual children will have the opportunity to devour the sweets one morning. This year no date for this event has been fixed though. “We will open the floor sometime closer to Christmas,” said Silvia Kleyenstüber from Café Anton.
