Heritage week ends with street parade

The National Heritage Week celebrations which started on Monday, 16 September ended on Friday, 20 September with a music parade through the central business district. The theme of this year was “Namibiab /no/gauba Sao” which means “Follow the Namibian Beat” in Khoekhoegowab.
Various cultural groups including /Asa /aes Nama Cutural group, Kufamweshe Oshiwambo Cultural group from Walvis Bay, Chic-ken Bus Marimba Band of Swakopmund and the Gqaina Primary School San Cultural group who came from a Plessis Farm near Gobabis in the Omaheke region paraded the streets dancing, singing and playing drums, celebrating the Heritage Week.
The Namibian Heritage Week is always the 3rd week of September.
The Museum Association of Namibia with some interested members of the Heritage Week Team and the COSDEF Arts and Craft Centre had various activities lined up during the heritage week where over 400 learners from various schools participated in. The Chicken Bus Marimba band also helped by teaching learners how to make music.
