A white Toyota Wish sedan with reg. no. N 27263 WB with seven occupants including the driver on board caught fire about 10 km from Karibib on Wednesday.

All occupants including the driver managed to escape the inferno unscathed.
The driver, Sakaria Mutumbulwa (31) from Kuisebmund was travelling from Walvis Bay to Windhoek.
It is further alleged that about 10km from Karibib, the driver turned into a roadside resting place.
“The area where he allegedly stopped was covered by grass including the area under the car”, explained Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, Erongo regional crime investigating co-ordinator.
Without warning the vehicle was engulfed in flames. All occupants escaped without injuries. Iikuyu further said they managed to save some of their belongings. The car was totally destroyed. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but fingers are pointing to the vehicle’s hot exhaust that might have ignited the grass under the vehicle.
