Housefly outbreak problems persist in Hermes-area
A community policing group focusing on the Hermes neighborhood of Walvis Bay reports the continuation of a house fly out-break, despite an effort by the municipality of Walvis Bay in recent days to counter the fly-outbreak with the spraying of chemicals.
The fly-outbreak is a direct consequence of up-grade works to the sewerage water treatment plant. The upgrade project resulted in raw sewer water accumulating in various areas at the water treatment plant and it resulted in a fly-outbreak Walvis Bay has not seen for a long time.
“Please ask the municipality to step up the effort and to spread their actions beyond the sewerage treatment works to also include areas around the water treatment plant like Dunes Mall, Hermes, the Duneside area and also the lower parts of Union Street and Narraville, the group requested.
