ITGURU/GIGANET Golf day at Walvis Bay Golf Club

The ITGURU/GIGANET sponsored Golf day was held at the Walvis Bay Golf Club last weekend.
This was the first time ITGURU/GIGANET a local IT company that support networking, Email hosting, wireless internet and giganet fiber sponsored an event at the club.

The format was a bit different on the day and contrary to the thought that it would suit the lower handicaps, as it was an individual stabelford with one score on holes 1-6, double scores on holes 7-12 and multiplied scored on the last six holes.
A good turnout of 37 players braved the windy conditions to see if zero times zero still remains zero, and to some it came as a surprise that indeed still stays a zero, certainly no names no pack drill.
Albeit that Jordan Wentzel won the day on a staggering 88 points, the other three winners were in the mid to low handicap range. Second place went to Tiennie de Wet winning a count out on 66 [c/o 33], third place went to Justine Grobler also on 66 points [c/o 30] and Koot Potgieter took the fourth place also on 66 points [c/o 29].
However the best golfers on the day were the lucky draw winners, Oom Pikkie Champion and Duane Sanders. Closest to the pins went to Morne Roux and Jason Barnard who play their best shot when it counted most, or so the story goes.
Morne was also able to convert his closest to the pin into a 2 club and won another 260 bucks for his efforts [he did not ring the bell].
Thanks to ITGURU for the sponsorship of four prizes, two lucky draws and two closest to the pins, indeed a good sponsorship and we look forward to having you guys back next year.
I know it was reported last week that Emille Vilbert junior won the NEDBANK AUTISM DAY but from the clubs side well done young man and a great prize for your father haha
It is with heartfelt sadness that we need to report on the passing of one of our stalwart members and a previous chairman, Carlos de Gouveia. He will always be remembers as our HOMBRE with direct connections to Putin and other rocket scientists. Our sincere condolences go out to Rhodora, the children and the families. He will be sorely missed by all at the club.
Next week is a club competition individual stableford off the reds tees, see you all there.
The Wednesday winner of winners will take place on 8th December and a list of all the winners will be circulated on the social media platforms so watch out for that. The Saturday winner of winners will be played in January next year once we have closed off for the year.
