A professional tennis player, rider and educator Australian Kate Leeming stopped over in Swakopmund to inspire and motivate students. Her mission is aimed at breaking the cycle in Education.

According to her blog, “Breaking the Cycle: Education aims to inspire students to lead their schools, communities, countries, and the world in making positive change by utilising Kate’s journeys as a source of innovation and creativity.”
Leeming’s first presentation was at Festus !Gonteb Primary School in the DRC where she met a Grade 7 class. “My talk was a little rushed, but very well-received by the year 7 students”, said Leeming. She further went to visit Mondesa Youth Opportunities (MYO) in Mondesa for a presentation with the Grade 7 and 8 classes before continuing the second half of her fat bike ride across the continent.
According to Leeming, “Breaking the Cycle will serve to build on my commitment to contribute towards ending extreme poverty and education. These outreach initiatives support Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty), 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality) which in turn can positively affect all other SDGs”
