Kauanivi wins Coastal Marathon

Mynhardt Kauanivi was again crowned as the winners of the annual Sanlam Coastal Marathon.

Kauanivi who was the winner of the first marathon last year cros-sed the finish line a few minutes later in the second edition. He claimed the gold medal in the 42.2km race in a time of 02:28:20. 18. and prize money of N$15 000 and an all-expenses paid participation in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon in September this year.
The First woman crossing the finish line in the 42.2km race was Ndeshimona Ekandjo clocking a time of 02:55:30.60.

Paulus NdangiIiyambo finished second in a time of 02:30:25.56 and Frans Hosea third, in the men’s section in a time of 02:34:36.41.
In the women’s section, Alina Armasended finished second in a time of 02:58:41.05 and South Africa’s Stephanie Smit, third, in a time of 03:12:51.95.
With over 700 participants, the Marketing and Communications Manager of San-lam Namibia Hilaria Graig was very impressed with the results and said that this event with its four categories, the 5km fun walk and run, 10km, 21km and the 42.2km marathon, was once again a big success.
Graig said: “We were pleasantly surprised by the high turnout as we had set an expectation of 500 participants in the marathon”.
She added that the Sanlam Coastal Marathon will be back next year and ensures that it will be better. The date for next year’s Sanlam Coastal Marathon will be announced soon.
