Lady hopes to vote after discovering an error made by the ECN on her card
A Walvis Bay resident says she was turned away at a voter’s registration point in Walvis Bay during the Electoral Commission of Namibia’s supplementary registration process, after she spotted the new voter’s card the Commission issued to her contained the wrong gender.
The lady obtained a new voter’s card, but upon emerging from the registration point she saw her gender on the voter’s card is reflected as “male”.
The woman told Namib Times this week that she immediately returned to the registration hall when she discovered the error, but a registration official told her “it’s not a big deal, you can still go vote.”
“I left and I sincerely hope this wrong gender indicated on the card robs me of an opportunity to cast my vote”, she said.
