A Walvis Bay resident suffered a major loss this week when her house was burgled and the culprit or culprits then stole her vehicle to transport the stolen goods. To make matters worse, the vehicle was later discovered abandoned at Windhoek and stripped of its wheels and canopy. The vehicle was also damaged in the stripping process.
A case of theft of a motor vehicle and housebreaking with the intent to steal and theft was opened.
The culprits, who are still unknown, forced open the door of the house with a steel bar that was found on the premises. They took a Diamond television set valued at N$3 500 and the Ford Ranger valued at N$380 000.
Residents of the harbour town are cautioned that housebreaking remains one of the major crime concerns and although vehicle theft is not common, it did show an alarming uprising trend in recent months.
∙Although the vehicle was recovered, the Namibian Police at Walvis Bay urged the public this week to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprit or culprits.
