The Namibian Police in Erongo is urgently looking for the relatives of a man who fell from a moving vehicle on the Swakopmund-Henties Bay road on Wednesday night.
The man was admitted to the Swakopmund hospital and has since been transferred to Windhoek, as his condition is critical. The man was seen earlier on Wednesday evening at a restaurant at Mile 14. He was walking from the direction of the main road seemed inebriated. He asked patrons for a cigarette. Someone then took the man back to the main road, as he wanted to hitch hike.
A while later, patrons spotted an ambulance approaching from Swakopmund. They went to the main road and found the man lying on the road surface in a severe injured state. He was still conscious and said his name was “Jan” and “fell from a vehicle”. He lost consciousness shortly thereafter.
The Police is also appealing for the driver of the vehicle from which the person allegedly fell to also come forward, as it is important to puzzle together the circumstances under which this took place.
