Man scribbles his name in the sand and commits suicide

An adult male person drowned in the sea between the Jetty and the Mole at about 12:00 on Friday. Information received by namib times indicated to a suicide. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the man writing his first name in the sand using his finger before swimming out into the sea.

The Sea Rescue Institute of Namibia (SRIN) Station 1 was contacted and one of its members brought the man ashore and immediately initiated CPR. Eagle Christian Ambulance and E-Med Rescue were called to the scene. Two doctors from Germany, who are on vacation in Namibia spent about 40 minutes trying to resuscitate the patient. Unfortunately, the team of medics were unable to regain a pulse and the man was declared deceased soon after. His identity is not yet known.
