Man shoots himself at the front door of his house

It is suspected a 52-year-old man shot himself outside his own house on Thursday 12 September.

Jacobus Kaundinge Haipinge parked his car at his home. The sound of the car woke his wife and she looked through the window and saw him walking around inside the yard. She then went back to sleep as this was not an unusual thing for her husband to do. The next morning, children on their way to school discovered Haipinge lying next to the front door. He had an open wound under his chin and upper head. The children informed his wife who then informed the police. A pistol was found next to Haipinge’s right arm. The ownership of the firearm must still be confirmed. No foul play is suspected at this stage and no suicide note was found.
