Mayor urges Walvis Bay residents to take responsibility against Covid-19

*Wear a face mask – wear it correctly
*Practise social distancing at all times
*Wash your hands regularly
*Avoid crowded areas
*Be extra vigilant at events
*Avoid unnecessary traveling
*Vaccinate against Covid-19

“I don’t known whether it is negligence from our side as residents, but what I know is we need to step up our precautionary measures against Covid-19. We need to do better”.

Walvis Bay’s Mayor, Cllr. Trevino Forbes, issued a stern warning on Tuesday night during the monthly Council meeting that the Covid-19 infection rate is Walvis Bay is climbing at an alarming rate.
He urged residents to take personal responsibility to contain the virus and not only expecting the Ministry of Health and Social Ser-vices to fight the virus.
Mayor Forbes, who also tested positive for the Coronavirus four weeks ago, and had to isolate urged all citizens who qualifies to take the vaccine, to do so without delay.
“Covid-19 does not discriminate, and it affects all of us in a broad sense as it wreaks havoc in both our social and economic lives.

I myself was diagnosed with Covid-19 four weeks ago and only returned to office last Monday”, Mayor Forbes is quoted from his monthly address he delivered on Tuesday night during the monthly Council meeting.
Adding he is subjected to a waiting period of a further 2 weeks before he can get his Covid-19 vaccine.
